Professor Rugby, in search of rare specimens of entomology, chasing butterflies and various other insects, meets Ruth, a country maiden, with whom he falls in love. He is very much disturbed by the presence of her little brother, Master Fixit, who lets his rare specimens of "bugology" out of his basket, very much interfering with his love-making. Evidently young Fixit takes a pronounced dislike to the professor. It is quite different when Edward Walton, a young city chap, appears upon the scene. This presence is somewhat unexpected. He is fishing in a stream for trout and Master Fixit, seeing his trout fly floating upon the stream, picks it up and fastens it in his sister's dress. Young Walton thinks he has made a catch. So he has, but it is not the kind of a fish he anticipated, but it serves as an introduction to the pretty girl. Immediately a rivalry springs up between Walton and the professor.
